I find John and Nina's training videos top class. They explain the foundations using the training methods you need to complete with the young dogs through to a FTCH. 

I like to watch them over and over as I pick up a better understanding each time I watch them - daily whilst having my breakfast!

I am getting a lot of inspiration and ideas from watching the videos on the Halsted Gundog Academy website.

It is clearly watching a master of gundog training at the top of his game. I really like that the videos are not staged and that you can follow a number of dogs as they progress in their training/education towards fully trained working gundogs/trialling dogs. John and Nina are advocating and explaining how to build a coherent structure into the dog’s training right from the start as a young dog. With the use of voice control, the dog soon learns whether he is doing right or wrong and this can be conveyed to the dog with the right timing. This provides a strong foundation for moving forward. John and Nina are, through a number of videos, demonstrating all the concepts that go in to achieving this - right from puppy to fully trained dog. All the videos are accompanied with a 'to the point' relevant narrative. Watch, listen and learn! Can highly recommend

A brilliant one-stop-shop for Gundog training. As ever, John holds nothing back in showing how he trains his dogs, working from the basics with a puppy to a fully trained dog. It has something for everyone. For most people who have a dog or two every few years it is easy to forget how important each step in their training is – this is an excellent reminder. Wonderful that it is “interactive” too, with subscribers questions answered. The interviews are informative and show what a team John and Nina are. The subscription is excellent value too

John and Nina's track record and training speaks for itself with all they have achieved over the years, and Halsted Gundog Academy's videos will show you in detail how it was possible.

It is good to take advantage of a stage by stage process gleaned from a lifetime of dedication to the Labrador Retriever, whether it be picking up, a peg dog or a Championship winning retriever

John and Nina's videos show the real thing. It is not rehearsed to perfection for the video, it is not fake, it shows what happens when they teach, correct or solve a problem with dogs. It does not show magic dogs, it does not show quick fix solutions but it shows what it is all about training a gundog.

It is a breath of fresh air to watch an honest picture of gundog training and what it is all about. 

I want to learn from people who have actually proven they know what they are talking about. John and  Nina's track record is second to none and shows how they do it in an honest way that I can relate to.
